Senior Capstone
- Modelled a manure-to-RNG biogas reactor in Aspen.
- Modelled membrane separation of biogas into methane and CO₂ in MATLAB.
- Optimised compression and membrane cost for most profit.
- Ensured waste streams complied with environmental regulations.
Senior Lab
- Led a team to simulate a solvent-recovery process in Aspen.
- Wrote the procedure to evaluate thermal and overall distillation column efficiency; sized and determined capital costs.
- Modelled extractive distillation in Aspen Plus to break the water–isopropanol azeotrope.
Process Control
- Led a 4-person team to design and build a system regulating cylinder height by varying airflow.
- Built a 2–3 ms feedback control loop using a distance sensor, microcontroller, and flow-rate actuator.
- Developed LabVIEW PID control to handle disturbances and maintain setpoint to ±1%.
